Brave Roasters Samyan

Killer coffee amid unexpected greenery.

Publish Date: 17 February 2020

Siam Discovery’s favourite name for coffee, Brave Roasters, has opened this more down-to-earth coffee counter deep in the student hub of Samyan.

Not only does this petite glasshouse cafe come surrounded by trees and a little lawn, it offers a signature menu of drinks that’s not available at any of Brave’s other branches.

Beyond the (always excellent) espressos, flat whites and pour-over coffee, you’ll find offerings like Dark & Stormy, a teetotal twist on the Black & Stormy cocktail made with house-made ginger syrup and substituting coffee for rum, or the Cafe Tao-Tueng, a sweet caffeinated take on a Chinese dessert that comes topped with coconut jelly, a variety of beans, chestnuts and other treats.

There’s also a small selection of cakes including creme brulee cheesecake and carrot cake.

How to get there: Brave Roasters sits less than a 10-minute taxi ride from Siam@Siam Bangkok (which should cost less than THB80). Alternatively, the shop is a 22-minute walk away, which gives you a good chance to check out some of the street art in the area as part of the Chula Art Town initiative. Take the footbridge over Rama 1 Road and head straight down Chula Soi 9 (turning left onto Chula Soi 42). You’ll see the glasshouse on your right.
